School Governors
The Governing Body at SS Mary and Michael Catholic Primary School is made up of 12 individuals from varying backgrounds. Seven governors fulfil the role of foundation governor appointed by the Bishop of Lancaster. Two are parent representatives, nominated and elected from parents of children attending school. One governor is appointed by the local authority and two members are staff representatives (including the Headteacher). The Headteacher works closely with the Governing Body as its principal professional advisor. Governing Body policy decisions will then be implemented by the Headteacher in the day-to-day running of the school. Governors bring to their role experience of everyday life and a wish to help children and schools. They support school in raising standards, by determining the conduct and direction of the school, whilst ensuring the school's mission and vision are visible in all that school seeks to do.
