We have been looking closely at the work of Jackson Pollock (1912-1956), an American artist whose work is very abstract, expressionist and contempory. We considered how Jackson Pollock worked, what materials he used and how he applied paint to the canvas. Then we tried it ourselves with interesting results. We were inspired by the recent wintry weather, chosing cold colours to work with, adding glitter and sparkly objects to give the effect of frost and ice.

As a part of our History topic, The Aztecs, we designed our own Aztec eagles.
Class 5's Aztec eagles
We also researched Aztec gods and created posters with the information we found.

We also made small rain gods out of clay.

We visited Garstang High School recently where we were given the task of designing, and then following our designs, to make a pencil case. These are our designs as well as the finished articles.

We have been exploring light and shade through portraits. We used chalk and charcoal in our portraits of each other to create areas of the face that are light and dark and thought about how the light source can affect this.
