Flashing blocks
Following on from our work on the Eye of Horus as part of our Egyptian studies, we turned our attention to eyes in general. We looked closely at eyes using mirrors and magnifiers, at their shapes and structures, then used chalk and charcoal to produce enlarged images of eyes. We noticed lots of curved lines and contrasting areas of light and dark and used the chalk and charcoal to experiment with light and shade and to create the interesting patterns of the iris.

As part of our History topic of Ancient Egypt we used drawing and cutting skills to create our own Eye of Horus designs, mounting the different sections of the eye onto contrasting coloured backgrounds
